Mitragynine is a potent alkaloid extracted from Kratom, an indigenous plant to South East Asia. The Thai government decriminalized Kratom in 2021 and the country has been developing the industry from cultivation to extraction and product formulation. The Thai Narcotics Control Board and Naresuan University has finished a preliminary study of Mitragynine covering both toxicology and efficacy. The study concludes that Mitragynine is safe for human consumption at 3 mg/ day dosage.

Currently PACCAN, in collaboration with Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technology Research (TISTR), is currently conducting another study for higher dosage of Mitragynine for human consumption. We expect to publish our results on toxicology by the end of 2024, and efficacy at varying levels of dosage by end of 2025.
